Carolyn Lesser is a well rounded artist. As an author she has published eight natural science books for children. "I write natural science for children, for it feeds my curiosity and makes continuing observation and fascinating study essential," says Carolyn. Her research has taken her from the Arctic to the Antarctic, in the desert and wetlands.
Besides being a non-fiction writer, Ms. Lesser is also an artist and designer. She has done liturgical and secular fiber art commissions for churches, schools, office buildings and hospitals in the United States and South America. She also creates hand-formed and wheel-thrown ceramic sculptures. .
Another love for Carolyn is photography. Her work includes color-saturated nature and abstracts; landscapes, portraits, nautical scenes, and fine art travel photographs. .
When not writing books, Carolyn is often teaching, leading workshops, or traveling. "I continue to travel to speak to children all over the world, and to research my books wherever my curiosity points me. My five senses are my guides; my camera, sketchbook, binoculars, and journal are my tools. Every day brings new things to investigate, learn, read, write, and see; things that make me grin with the joy of being alive on this planet." .
